I believe this song is about an obsessed stalker. lol If thats what God is.. well I'll refrain from saying anything else. hehe

If he is everything people make him/it/her/whatever out to be I would think he is the ultimate stalker Wouldnt you think?

The Song was written while divorcing his ex-wife, which makes it pretty weird and creepy

Oh never mind the original intention, I interoperated it entirely different, so did many others I suspect.
Quite suitable I feel.
Its a great song.

That is why we have music, poetry & prose. It allows individuals to share common experiences. The author/poet/composer writes according to his/her experiences/inspiration. The reader/listener identifies with the work & gives it his/her own interpretation. But there is almost an Archetype that is created because the words/music of the original piece don't change - simply what they represent to each individual changes.

For me, Every Breath You Take is one of those ultimate Love Songs, sort of like Love Me Tender (Elvis), One (U2) or maybe even Thank You by Led Zepplin. Every Breath speaks from the heart; is simple in its beauty & beautiful in its simplicity. That is the mark of a truly great Love Song. And no matter what interpretation you have, or what memories it brings forth - it will always be a Classic.
