It is no surprise anymore when you see Democrats on all the TV shows defending Harriet Miers, the same woman who would have gotten lynched by them had the Republican party didn't do it for them. Partisan politics almost looks like scripted assault at times. Each party will strike as soon as blood hits the water. At the first appearance of weakness, the opposing jumps all over the other.

What doesn't make sense is why the Republicans take so much abuse from the Democrats and let that control their decisions. We know that if Democrats had the control of Washington as the Republicans do, they would be walking all over town doing whatever they want with no regard for bipartisan interest.

Republicans are bending over at the first hint of criticism by the Democrats. Perhaps it is like reverse psychology: If we show the public enough that we aren't going to throw our weight around then we aren't the bad guys here. Perhaps we don't have the strong spine to handle the criticism. Either way the Democrats appear to be complaining all the time, which doesn't do anything for their image.

Republicans must stop bowing down to the criticism coming from the left. Had a Democrat been in the White House, a strict liberal would have been nominated quickly to the Supreme Court. The Republicans must seed the government now with those who hold the views of the party. This is your chance, take advantage of it now.
