From NBC:

Laura Bush appeared on the Today Show this morning in a one-on-one interview with Ann Curry. Curry asked her about the situation in Iraq, to which Mrs. Bush responded, "No one suffers more than their president and I do."

I love Laura, but this is pretty pretentious. Did she have a child die in this war? I am sure the mothers of soldiers suffer more...

I smell she's out there to pull at any heart strings she can. Unfortunately, like you mentioned horse, she comes across as pretentious. In fact, its one thing to relate to the families that are suffering because of the situation and another to say that they're suffering as much, if not more. Really this is a PR blunder, imo.
