Is it true?: Questions from Psychic Ben:

Desiree Cousteau (born Deborah Clearbranch), who was the most famous and popular actress in adult films in the late Seventies, is dead. She quit the world of X-rated films in the Eighties, and rumours of her madness and contraction of the AIDS virus followed. She was said by some to have retreated into obscurity and to have studied psychology. The reality is she died sometime in the Nineties. Some of the co-stars in her films have succumbed to Aids, including the most famous male porn star, John C. Holmes. Holmes was implicated in a series of murders in the Eighties. Desiree Cousteau was popular amongst Canberra porn-hunters, but some of her films were hard to find, even when Canberra politians made them legal, as they included rape scenes.

Elvis Presley died sometime around 1994.

This is a weird follow-up message to this- Around 1990 I gave a porno called Suzy Cue to Linc Thurecht. Yep, former musical collaborater of mine and he who does research into health issues in Canberra- haha. Anyway, to be honest, I didn't watch that many pornos. It was considered fairly normal for guys to do this in the original video era of the 1980's. The abortion rate hit about a million in U.S.A. in 1990 and the world started to frown at the industry. Now, with a reported approx. 50 million with Aids and a reported approx. 70,00 abortions in Australia each year, the world is realising that things went the wrong way. If you think porn is where it's at when it comes to the enjoyment of life, then I can tell you it's not. I think some of it is to do with very greedy bitches who want to use men like performing toys. And, to be fair, men who want to make fast money out of sad unemployed women from bad homes. I have enjoyed life without porn and I can trully say that it destroys the joy of life. I especially hate people who try to manipulate me into the porn industry or watching it. Not naming names- they've been named- and yes- I hate your guts and I will kill you if you touch me again!!! anyway, the strange thing about the porno I gave Linc is that it starred a woman named Rachel Ryan, who has used the name Serina Robinson. She reportedly appeared unbilled in the 1989 version of Batman and dated Michael Keaton until he found out she was a porn star (could be just a rumour). Coincidentally, Serena (with an 'e' not a 'i') Robinson is said to be the real name of a performer born around ten years earlier than Rachel Ryan who appeared in Inside Desiree Cousteau. So, that was the weird connection. Funny how Linc is still battling Health issues in the A.C.T. to this day...well, not funny, but I hope that clears it up! So, to end- if you think you're saving the world with porn, then think again. Your mischief will come back onto you...

P.S. I gave or sold a porno featuring Deborah Clearbranch, that could be considered violent, to Jim Buckley in the Nineties. I didn't buy it because it was labelled violent. Another reason not to buy pornos- they used to sneak weirdo stuff into them. I don't want to check if they still do. It's a vile industry. P.S. I ran Jim at the trash'n'treasure markets in Woden recently. He's married and doing fine. No sign of madness. He said former SEC student Mark Crowley is in a very bad way. Either him or his brother has crashed his car and a girlfriend has died in the accident. Must be the name...

P.S.S. For the record: Deborah Clearbranch/ Desiree Cousteau's real name may have been Deborah Scheer. I got this from a news story printed back in the early 1980's about her getting arrested for charging money for photos of her sitting on people's laps. I think this occured in the Colarado region in the early 1980's. But I still don't know if Scheer is her real name. My first memory of anything to do with this... errrr... Actress, was back around c1980. I remember a story in Famous Monsters of Filmand magazine about the film she was in- 'Superwoman', being renamed due to copyright. I think it featured a photo of her in a cape with the article. Anyway, I think she did die, and the Superman curse made it's way into the X industry...perhaps. Anyway, I suppose that the person who influenced me into collecting things from SF and Horror films was Forry. That led to the shop Movie and Comic Book Collectibles in Canberra. Forry died a couple of years ago. Here's an interview about what happened to him and his collection in his final years, from the man who helped restore his collection. Some of it ended up with director Peter Jackson. It's sad and interesting, as it really has a lot to do with events in my life around 1978 to 1990>
