however, what if they seeded the major religions on earth with the intention that they would each go to war with one another, or at least tag team as it is now, so that when the earth reaches its peak of population most of the population will be overweight and dumb (america) thus making a steadfast meal(s) that could feed an entire population of aliens for more than a few years.
maybe they only monitor to make sure their food source doesnt wipe itself out completely, just keeps each other busy long enough and wastes most of its resources that resistance when they choose to harvest will be minimal

It seems to me, there are 3 possible scenarios: a step in evolution involves creating a technology that destroys civilization such that the technology to travel space-time efficiently is never achieved, or ET's are not aware of our existence yet because our expanding radio wave sphere is not large enough, or they are already here...waiting for something or just observing.

If we look at ET visits in the frame of human history, we should be a bit more cautious about welcoming them with open arms. They could well be a modern equivalent of a 16th century european explorer. (BTW, you're the native)

I've heard it tastes like chicken, and come to think of it, I don't mind the taste of fatty chicken skin

I've heard we taste like pork. Seeing as swine are more genetically similar to humans than cows and chickens, I might tend to agree. The definitive proof would be monkey...but that's not on the menu here.
